You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
23! What a great Psalm! It just might be the G.O.A.T.!
Word-by-word, line-by-line, it is so full of imagery and depth, which can make it difficult to narrow in on a singular section to discuss in a devotional format like this. However, I’m overwhelmed by the striking nature of the thought that God ‘prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies.’ If I had my way, I might just choose for God to put distance between me and my enemies or eliminate them altogether, but instead His nature is to offer hospitality, provision, care and rest to me even in the midst of the reality that I still have enemies. It’s as though God doesn’t just want us to know that we are friends and He’s on our side…He wants everyone to know it too!
Never mistake what your enemies say/think of you for what God says/thinks about you.
